This figure that you have sounds a little high, I am building a 1460cc Coventry Climax from a FWB firepump and a lot of the fire pump pieces are the same. I think that I have around $5k to $6k into my engine, But I got some deals on at least some of the parts. If you have a major blow up and have to replace the block, I have some at the moment. The blocks that I have are the FWB/FWE from the late firepumps. they are siamiesed between cylinders 1 and 2, 3 and 4. they have the forged aliminum caps and include all of the numbered components (front cover, front and rear sump spacers). they have the oil filter boss and bumps for the FWB crank. Other parts available also. Keep the Climax in Turner.

: I have a Mk ll with 1216 Climax. I have wondered about pulling the Climax and putting in a newer engine / transmission.
: The reason being the rarity of the Climax and the ever increasing price if it needed rebuilding or other major work. I understand a full rebuild may cost $ 8,000 - $ 10,000 U.S., based on an ar6ticle I read on Lotus Elites several years ago.

: It is just something I have wondered about for some time and would like to know what would be an easy and practical fit. I would want the option of putting the Climax back in as I would be keeping it and the MGA transmission.

: Has any one any experience with this, I assume as several different engines were available originally that there various options. I would appreciate thoughts people may have.
