Oil Leak Advice

I'm new to British cars, so please excuse the stupid question, but...

I have a minor oil leak that I have been trying to track down (I know they are supposed to have them, but I'm an anal engineer and need to know exactly why). It appears to be coming out of the smooth case transmission where the rubber plug is and also close by where a cotter pin is located.

Is this just the rear scroll seal leaking thru and out of the lowest holes in the tranny case or would it be a bad seal within the tranny? I've have checked the tranny and it seems to be full and not needed oil, so I'm guessing it the scroll seal.

The leak is minor - a few drops at shutdown and then it seems to stop except for where it dripping off the outside of the tranny case.

Any history / education would be beneficial. In the meanwhile, I'll just keep replacing the cardboard drip pan.
Maybe I'll put in the upgardes rear seal when I have the engine out in the future - any input of the use of this upgrade?

THANKS
Keith
