Turner Sports Cars   2013 USA Turner Reunion

The USA Turner Reunion
2013
Put In Bay - Ohio

I want to extend my thanks to those who investing their time, resources, and enthusiasm for Turners and our 2013 Reunion held at Put In Bay island on August 26th.

We had two unique road events over a course of 3 days that included the 3rd annual Jack Turner Ralley ( with a few if us getting our Turners slightly airborne going over PIBs scenic back section, and of the race track tour - which covered PIB's original street race circuit ) During the Jack Turner Ralley, the gang toured PIB's scenicown R lanes that wove through forested areas, along Lake Erie, and to the lighthouse area. We had a great time touring as a group, and what a scene it must have been to see the group moving throughout the island, many islanders waved and took in the view our historic sport cars.

Towards the end of the ralley - we headed over to the islands historic car and automombilia museum - this place was of great interest and contained cars from a Model A Ford with snow skies mounted in place of the front tires/wheels to a 1950s Cushman motor scooter - which TURNER 803 owner - Bill Baldwin told tales of his past ownership of one such model including using it for speed tests and getting it sideways at times.

We finished the ralley properly with a visit to the vineyard to grab a glass of the local Catawba wine - which is very refreshing, and I managed to buy a case and 'convince it' to fit into the Mk III's boot! I showed a picture if the Mk IIIs boot holding the case of wine, and our own Russ Filby stated it was the best use of a TURNER boot he has seen - I agree. We had 18 TURNER enthusiasts at our post ralley lunch held at The Goat Tavern - good food and drinks, with better conversation. We then headed back to the inn for some rest and chatted about TURNERS, while myself and a few of the fellows took in some rides on the island lanes - you cannot get enough of this scenic island, and with a TURNER to pilot, it is tops.

We closed out our 2013 TURNER Reunion with a fantastic evening dinner, the fresh perch and drinks were tastey and a few jokes were played on some unsuspecting victims! Names and incidents will remain under cover... By all accounts it was a great success and sets the bar for the 2014 Reunion - which I am already working on.

The venue will change for 2014 - with an eye on growing the TURNER Reunion in 2015. The 2013 Jack Turner Cup recipient is Mr. JJ Rodmen with his TURNER Mk I Climax racer - Well Done JJ !!

We really need a few more racers to support the 2014 TURNER Reunion - as the location is excellent and suits the TURNERS very well - so please strongly consider attending (( with your road and race cars )) in 2014 - as the more cars we get,the more pull I have to garner nice locations and special perks for the group.

In October I will release details on the 2014 TURNER Reunion along with notices on new TURNER Polo shirts - so watch your inbox or contact myself or Russell Filby for details.

All the best and long live Turners
